What is Botox Treatment?

While many think of Botox as a cosmetic option only for facial wrinkles and lines,
it can and has been used in dental practices for years. Botox can be used to treat
TMJ problems, bruxism, high lip lines as well as pain and discomfort when
adjusting to dentures. Botox is safely administered in our office and can be
redone as needed. The procedure is very quick, typically only taking a few short
minutes to complete.

Why might Botox Treatment be needed?

Botox has been used in the dental field for many years and is continually being
utilized for different disorders, conditions and problems. An exam is necessary
prior to administering Botox to ensure it’s right for you. Some of the different
things Botox can help treat include:

  • TMJ problems (TMD)
  • Bruxism (tooth grinding)
  • Clenching
  • High lip lines
  • Discomfort when wearing dentures
  • Orthodontic training
  • Gummy smiles

Hands down the BEST dentist I have ever been to! Not only is he thorough and meticulous, but he is also extremely knowledgeable and professional. He explained my procedure and put me at ease instantly. The office staff is warm and accommodating – my experiences at other dentistry offices made me weary of trying someone new and Dr. Max Zlasavsky and staff changed my outlook and I will never see another dentist after this!

What makes you a good candidate for Botox Treatment?

Botox has been deemed safe and is FDA-cleared and approved. This means that
you can feel safe in receiving treatment using Botox injections. Most side effects
of Botox are specific to the injection site and involve swelling, tenderness and
pain. However, the benefits of Botox far outweigh any of the side effects that
may occur. Most patients who need or want Botox can have the procedure done
safely in our office.

What can be expected during Botox Treatment?

You will first come in and have a consultation with one of our doctors. We will examine your teeth, mouth and jaw to determine if Botox is right for you. You will then have the Botox injections administered. A topical anesthetic can be used to make the injections less painful for you. You will notice immediate results from the Botox, and the results can be fully seen and felt in a few days time. You will need re-treatment of Botox after a few months. We can monitor your condition between injections to determine if they’re continually needed.
